Rebecca MacPherson

Dr. Rebecca MacPherson Rebecca is a mid-career investigator appointed to Brock University in 2016. MacPherson’s research program investigates causative factors in the pathogenesis of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease with a focus on how exercise and diet impact brain health. She is an expert in examining exercise, nutrition, and drug interventions on brain metabolism and whole-body physiology. To underscore the impact of her research excellence, MacPherson was recently awarded Brock University’s Early Career Research Award. Her recent work examining novel roles for exercise induced factors, such as BDNF and IL-6, on the brain highlights the importance or exercise for preventing and reducing the risk of neurodegenerative disease.
