Neil M. Johannsen is an Associate Professor in the School of Kinesiology at Louisiana State University. Dr. Johannsen’s research focus is the study of physical activity and exercise training effects on chronic disease and special populations. In the past 15 years, Dr. Johannsen has played an integral role in large clinical research involving populations ranging from children to older adults, elite athletes, overweight/obese people, individuals with type 2 diabetes, and women with a history of breast cancer. In addition, Dr. Johannsen conducts smaller research studies examining the effectiveness of acute exercise on metabolic, cardiovascular, and fluid balance outcomes at LSU, and is a Director of Sport Science working closely with LSU Athletic Training to conduct research in elite athletes spanning hydration, concussion, performance, sickle cell trait, and over-training
